School Meals

Our Catering staff are always on hand to discuss any particular needs your child may have and our Catering Manager can be contacted easily via the main school telephone number.

A number of our staff, students and visitors have a severe allergic reaction to nut-based products. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) can occur as a result of digestion, inhalation or any other contact with nut-based products, and can be fatal. Whilst we do not guarantee that the school is a nut free environment, we do as that for their safety, all nut-based products are banned from the school premises. Please do not send your child into school with any nut-based product for a snack or packed lunch.

Cashless payment system

​St Andrew’s operates a cashless catering and trip payment system (MCAS) that can be used to make a variety of school payments.

​Parents can use MCAS to pay for school payments such as: Cashless Catering top ups, and payments for School Trips & Offers.

  • Ensure money is being spent on healthy school meals

All students (once parental permission gained) have their finger print scanned upon arrival at the school. Parents and guardians can access the account through their My Child At School account via www.mychildatschool.com/MCAS/MCSParentLogin.

Once registered, parents and guardians will be able to top up the account with a set amount using a debit or credit card or set up a one-off or recurring standing order payment directly from a bank account.

If your child is eligible for Free School Meals, £3.10 will be applied to their account automatically every school day.​

SERVERIES & MEALS

​​The school offers breakfast foods, snack and a full lunch menu. Main course and dessert options are available for £3.10 if bought together. Please click here for more information on our different serveries and some price guides. 

Some students may choose to bring a packed lunch to school. Food and drink should be consumed in the supervised areas.

Free School Meals (FSM)

If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, we encourage you to apply.

Registering for Free School Meals can provide valuable support for your family and may also help the school access additional funding to support students' learning, wellbeing and achievement.

Why apply?

Free meals for your child

Students eligible for Free School Meals receive a daily allowance of £3.10, which can be used to purchase food through our cashless catering system. Our catering system does not identify which students receive Free School Meals, ensuring privacy for all students.

Additional support for students

Students who qualify for Targeted Free School Meals may also enable the school to receive additional Government funding through the Pupil Premium. This funding helps us provide targeted support, enrichment opportunities and resources that benefit students across the school

Changes to Free School Meals from September 2026

From 1 September 2026, Free School Meals eligibility is divided into two categories: Targeted FSM and Expanded FSM.

Targeted Free School Meals

Students may be eligible for Targeted FSM if their household receives Universal Credit and has annual earnings of £7,400 or less (after tax and excluding benefits).

Students eligible for Targeted FSM can receive:

  • A free school meal each day
  • Access to the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme
  • Additional Pupil Premium support for the school

Expanded Free School Meals

Students may be eligible for Expanded FSM if their household receives Universal Credit and has annual earnings above £7,400.

Students eligible for Expanded FSM can receive:

  • A free school meal each day

Applying for Free School Meals

Applications should be made through West Sussex County Council using their online application process.

If your child is awarded Free School Meals, their eligibility status will remain in place for the rest of that school year. West Sussex County Council will carry out annual eligibility checks before the start of each new academic year and may contact families if further information is required.
