At St Andrew’s, we are committed to supporting every child to feel happy, included and able to succeed. We recognise that all students learn differently, and we work closely with families to ensure that every young person receives the support they need to thrive.

Our Commitment
St Andrew’s is a mainstream secondary school for students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. We believe that every young person should have the opportunity to:
- Achieve their very best
- Feel confident and valued as individuals
- Move successfully into adulthood, whether through further education, training or employment
We know that strong relationships with parents and carers are key to this, and we aim to work in partnership with you every step of the way.
Our SEND provision is reviewed each year and was last updated in September 2025.
How We Support Your Child
The most important support your child receives is through high-quality teaching in the classroom. All teachers at St Andrew’s are trained to adapt their lessons so that every student can access learning.
This may include:
- Breaking down tasks into manageable steps
- Adapting resources (for example, larger print or visual supports)
- Providing clear explanations and extra time to process information
- Supporting vocabulary and key subject language
- Thoughtful seating arrangements to meet individual needs
Every student on the SEND register has a Pupil Passport, which is shared with their teachers. This includes helpful strategies so staff understand how best to support your child.
Additional Support Available
In addition to classroom support, we offer a wide range of targeted interventions and opportunities. These are tailored to individual needs and may include:
- Small group support for literacy, numeracy and phonics
- Reading, phonics and spelling support programmes
- Social skills groups and mentoring
- Speech and language support
- 1:1 or small group intervention sessions
- SEND homework club
- Access to a quiet SEND base at break and lunchtime
- Support during transitions (e.g. joining Year 7 or preparing for college)
- Help with exam arrangements
- Use of assistive technology such as laptops or reading pens
- Break and lunch circle
- Access to the regulation room where appropriate
